Kenneth Brian Associates are recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join our leading client based in Coulsdon. As a Buying Assistant, you will play a crucial role in their procurement process, ensuring they get the best value for every pound spent. Your construction knowledge and sharp negotiation skills will be key in sourcing high-quality materials at the lowest possible prices. You will work closely with their project managers, suppliers, and contractors to keep their projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase materials, tools, and equipment required for construction projects.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to secure the best deals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet project schedules.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand material requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and inventory.
  • Assist in budget preparation and cost control measures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a buying/purchasing role within the construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a track record of securing favourable terms.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office and procurement software.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
